Reading have returned defender Bongani Khumalo to Spurs midway through his season-long loan.

South Africa international Khumalo played in the Royals first four games of the season but playing time since then had become limited.

The arrival of Kaspars Gorkss meant the 25-year-old figured in only one Carling Cup match since that bright start, and he has not played a first-team game since the end of August.

The 25-year-old is yet to figure for Spurs since they paid Supersport United £1.7m to sign him in January 2011.
