Rotherham United manager Andy Scott believes Chris Holroyd's move to Preston North End suits all parties.
The 25-year-old striker, who only joined the Millers in the summer, moved to Deepdale for an undisclosed fee on Friday to be reunited with Graham Westley, who he played under at Stevenage, after struggling to make an impact at Don Valley.
"Graham had Chris at Stevenage, and he was the first person he contacted me about when he got the Preston job," Scott told the club's official website. "After much deliberation we decided it was a deal that would benefit Chris and ourselves.
"As soon as Chris heard there was interest, he seemed keen on the deal, as he lives close to the area. With the form of Alex Revell and Lewis Grabban we just felt it was an offer the club couldn't turn down, and we would like to wish him all the best for the future."
Holroyd, who scored one goal in 19 appearance in a Millers shirt, added: "I was optimistic about my move here in pre-season, and I was looking forward to playing.
"Unfortunately things haven't quite worked that way, and it's one of those things in football where you just have to move on. It's a new start, and hopefully I can get some games under my belt."
