Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has revealed that a mystery defender has signed a pre-contract agreement to join the club next season.
Posh are refusing to reveal the identity of the centre-half but have said that he has been a target for the club for some time.
"We did sign a long-term target on Monday who arrives in June," said chairman MacAnthony via social networking site Twitter. "I am not allowed to name him but the gaffer chased him for a while.
"He is a good player who will fit in well. He has signed a three-year pre-contract deal."
The player will be a long-term replacement for Ryan Bennett, who left London Road on transfer deadline day to join Premier League club Norwich in a club-record deal for Peterborough.
