Pat Baldwin stepped up his recovery as Colchester booked their place in the Essex Senior Cup semi-finals on Tuesday night.
The defender, who sustained a fractured toe in early October, was part of a strong U's side to face Harlow Town which included the likes of Mark Cousins, Tom Aldred, Michael Rose, Kemal Izzet, John-Joe O'Toole and Ben Coker.
It was the latest outing for Baldwin, who made his second-string return before Christmas but is yet to get a taste of first-team action following his comeback.
The U's were forced to do it the hard way at the Weston Homes Community Stadium as the non-league visitors took the lead shortly after half-time, and it remained that way until 15 minutes from time when O'Toole poked home Rose's deflected free-kick from close range.
An unfortunate own goal just a couple of minutes later then sealed Colchester's progress into the last four of the competition.
