Carlisle midfielder Ben McKenna has agreed a loan deal with Scottish Third Division side Annan Athletic until the end of the season.
The teenager, whose move to the club is still subject to completion of all necessary paperwork, has not featured for the Cumbrians this season and boss Greg Abbott feels he will benefit from the experience.
"Ben needs competitive football and he will get that with this move," he told the club's official website.
"With where we are at the moment and with the bad luck he has had with injuries, he is finding it difficult to get into our starting 11.
"We're all very aware that he only has six months left on his contract so we spoke to Annan to see if they had anything for him.
"We know them well and they'll look after him, which is important. Their location means that we can get up there and watch him, and we can still have him in training with us every Monday."
