Burton boss Paul Peschisolido has insisted he did not make an application for the vacant managerial position at Bristol Rovers.
A statement on the Brewers' official website last week said Peschisolido had "politely declined" advances from Rovers, inviting the former striker for an interview at the Memorial Stadium.
Since then, however, Rovers chairman Nick Higgs has stressed that the Burton boss' agent made the initial approach - something Peschisolido is still vehemently denying.
He told the Derby Telegraph: "All I want to say on the matter now is that I did not approach them, nor did I send my representatives - whoever they are, because I don't know.
"I was called by a member of the board and asked if I'd be interested. I did say I'd have a think about it but then I told them I wasn't interested.
"Why would I make an approach and then turn it down? It's silly."
