Brentford boss Uwe Rosler blamed his side's inability to break down Walsall in a draw on Griffin Park's sand-laden bobbly pitch.
Record-breaking Walsall goalkeeper Jimmy Walker, 38, kept a clean sheet in his 530th league appearance for the visitors as the Bees' toothless forward line drew a blank.
Rosler said: "It's no criticism of the groundsman because he has done a great job, but we trained all week on one surface and couldn't make it work here.
"But I'm not going to change the way we play now. We will continue to try to play the right way because to change would not be good for the players, the supporters or the people at the club."
Rosler's side remain in eighth place, four points adrift of the play-offs.
The German added: "There has been too much focus on the sixth spot play off place. We'll go to our next game at Huddersfield looking to win and the one after that and so on and then at the end of March see where we stand."
